  14. Unfortunately, Win 95 first install was ok.  Sure I had some problems, but with
  15. the help of the support staff. I got them fixed.  It worked great for all my
  16. existing programs.  But then I did something I now regret.  I tried to install a
  17. new program.  At first it all went pretty well.  But, maybe you've had programs
  18. that didn't work, too.  No?  Well, I love the programs that have those uninstall
  19. programs.  But what I really really hate are the uninstall programs that don't
  20. work.  Yeah, I've had a few of those.  So, you go to the control panel, and try
  21. it from there.  Nope.  So you delete the files, and do an old fashioned delete,
  22. by going into the *.ini files, autoexec.bat , and config.sys.  Well, with win 95
  23. you've also got that regestry.  Now with a program missing from all of the other
  24. files, you've still got info in the registry.  In fact, when you boot up, it
  25. checks in the registry to make sure everything is there.  But its not, so the
  26. system hangs on boot up.  Now you've got 2 choices mess with the registry, or
  27. leave it be.  Well, first I tried the first.  And restored the registry after it
  28. didn't boot up at all.  Then I tried a reinstall.  Now I have no sound and for a
  29. week or so, couldn't get online with the dialer, but could with the old netcom
  30. shell.  Amazing.  Same thing with the sound.  It works fine in dos, but states
  31. that I don't have a driver in win95.  But its there.  At least thats what a part
  32. of win95 says.

  34. This is a great OS, as long as you don't mess with it, don't install anything on
  35. it, and don't expect it to be a great os.  Perfect for the ignorant.
